RE 1/100 AMX Bawoo Green production type re color

Well lately i have been plugging along with the projects....to be honest i actually have more than one going on at the time. Which is totally unusual for me.  I normally just pick a large project and stay with one all the way till the end.  This time i figured i would switch it up a bit and do multiple things.

So the current build here is the RE 1/100 AMX Bawoo. This is not the P Bandai production green type.  But rather the original reddish orange color scheme.  But i prefer the green production type. I couldnt see myself paying an additional 30 USD for a color i could just paint in myself!

So i ditched the idea for the reddish orange scheme.....and went with the green scheme instead.  This kit is basically finished....just need to wrap up the masking on the beam rifle and its off to the photo booth for final pictures.

So this is some shots from the build process.  On this kit i tried out my good old buddy Matt Mrozek's suggestion and tried out an automotive clear coat called UPol.  I must say this is some toxic stuff!  Highly recommend using safety equipment, gloves, mask, fans, etc.  But the finish itself shines very bright and glossy.  This stuff sprays on like glass. But be mindful this stuff comes out thick if you lay it on too wet.  So light coats is highly recommended.

So this kit is very inexpensive for a one gallon supply of clear coat.  This stuff is an acrylic urethane type clear coat. Its about 70 dollars or so for this kit.  Mix ratio is a 4 to 1 mix.  With a one hour window of use.  Due to it being a two part mix.  Once the hardener is mixed you better get to spraying.  Also you better clean your gear up immediately once done spraying. Cleans up with good old Lacquer thinner

So here are some of  the build photos....of course the shiny parts are clear coated with the above mentioned clear coat.  Followed up with a good old matte coat of clear.
